5 sup runes and a -50hp cresta, a +20 enchanting and +5 energy sword/axe/spear. Totem axes are ideal, for 5k/ea. Cresta's of the sort are from Cities of Ascalon, if you're native prophecies character. the 5 superior runes are normally curses, blood, soul reaping, death magic, and an extra one of the 4, i choose the cheapest usually.

OP did not say 55 necro - he said SS.

For general SS pve armor take a +1 curses hat with minor (major at most) curses rune. Minor soul reaping rune, and highest Vigor rune you can afford. Fill rest of runes with vitaes, and until you learn more about the game just go with full survivor insignias.

A 40/40 curses set is your main weapon set. This is a wand and focus, each with a 20% half cast time and 20% half skill recharge.

But you cannot have 2 of the same runes on the characters body.
Runes dont stack except for the headpiece, which adds +1.
IE; I place a +2 curses rune on head, so i have +3 curses now.
If i add another +2 piece on say, feet, i get nothing but the loss of health.
That's what the "Non-Stacking" means in the Rune Description.

Curse necros should run +4 in PvE. The additional damage on leveraged skills like SS, MoP, Barbs, etc. multiplied out times triggers per second results in more than enough added DPS to justify the 75hp cost.

Head: +1 curses scar patern, +2 or +3 Curses Rune (total +3/4 to curses attribute, loss of -35 or -75 HP)

Chest: Survivors Insigna +15hp; +35 or +41/50 Rune of Vigor (total +50/56/65 HP depend on the amount of cash you have)

Legs: Survivors Insigna +10hp; +1 Soul Reaping (+1 to Soul Reaping attribute, +10HP)

Hands: Survivors Insigna +5hp; Rune of Vitae +10hp (total +15 HP)

Boots: Survivors Insigna +5hp; Rune of Vitae +10hp (total +15 HP)

Given you are newish to the game i would go for the Major Curses rune, and if you are newish you mostlikely only have cash for a Major Rune of Vigor which boost your character for total:

+ 3 curses
+ 1 soul reaping
+ 56 + 10 + 15 + 15 -35 = +61 HP

Ofcourse you also want some good cursing weapons, with a HP or Energy bonus, be it a staff or 2handed..

Goodluck and have fun

Go for superior curses~!
The benifits far outweigh the loss. :]
It's easy to make up the difference with the right runes and mods anyway.
I.e. Vigor + vitae + vitae + a fortitude mod.
41/50 + 10 + 10 + 30 will bring you back up to 496/505 health at level 20. :]
As for insignias, go with whatever tickles your fancy.
